Things To Do In Indy: Three Carrots Vegan Restaurant

I LOVE FOOD!

Spending any time with me makes it impossible for you to not know this. I think even if you scroll through the food tag of my blog you'll realize this right away. So for all my foodies out there! I will be reviewing various restaurants that I go to for all of you. I am not the pickiest eater, so I'm willing to try anything. I've found that even though I'm really good at predicting flavors, sometimes the dish is greater than the sum of it's parts.

I have been eating a plant based vegan diet for a while now, and honestly, it is not really that difficult. Though there are some places where it's just not convenient to be vegan, there are options for us at most regular restaurants (especially if you aren't like me and you like salads). With that said, it's still really fun when you go to a restaurant with an entire menu to choose form! That's why I was so excited to try out Three Carrots in Downtown Indy.

First of all.... I've been living here for years and I've never been to the City Market, so I didn't even know what to expect. For those of you like me... the Indianapolis City Market is a historic landmark located in the downtown area, that has an eclectic mix of booths, ranging form Jewelry to coffee to food to a brewery... but my reason for being there was definitely the vegan restaurant.

Three Carrots is a relatively young business, with a full menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner) including dessert, and is open from 8 am to 6 pm. They also support local business and source their ingredients directly from local farmers and bakeries when they can.

All of this sounds great in theory... but a taste test is the real judgement here.

I ordered the Pulled Seitan dish because it sounded divine! The dish came with a side, so i selected the chips and salsa and got a drink! The portion size was vegan-friendly (aka filling) and it looked and smelled delicious!

It was a little messy to eat (which is not a problem for me) but boy-oh-boy was it good! The flavors were just the right intensity and complemented each other well. While I would have liked it to be spicier since it is supposed to be, I acknowledge that I have high standards for spicy. The chips and salsa were also good and served as a wonderful accompaniment for the sandwich. To me though, the MVP was definitely the slaw in the sandwich, that cabbage was perfect, and I could actually eat a bowl of just that!

I give them a thumbs up, the food was good, the people were friendly, the prices were great, and the service was fast. What else can a person ask for?

...and even though I didn't get dessert... I could have and I'm sure it would have been great too!

So if you're in Indy and you're looking for somewhere new to try out, drop by Three Carrots!
